These
containers meet ATF Regulations for both Type II Indoor Storage
Magazine and Type III Day Box applications. They are constructed
of 12-gauge steel with two 1/4 inch steel lock hoods and are
lined with 1/2 inch plywood secured with non-sparking rivets.
The lightweight construction of these units enables easy transfer
from storage inside a building overnight to a truck bed for daytime
use, making them ideal for small jobs and blasting cap daytime
storage on the job.

"TREAD"
MAGAZINESTread Corporation, a leader in the manufacture of explosive storage facilities, has supplied fine quality permanent and portable storage magazines to the blasting industry since 1957
All Tread Type 2 Portable Magazines are built to meet rigid government specifications as set forth in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms regulations in Title 27 Code of Federal Regulations, Paragraphs 55.208, "Construction of Type 2 Magazines".
These magazines are constructed from 1/4" hot rolled steel plate which is manufactured to our specification by some of America's leading steel producers. Wood linings are milled to full thickness from the finest Appalachian hardwoods, purchased in truck load quantities. We manufacture our own ventilator covers, hasp and staples, padlock covers, hinges, and skids.
Hinge pins are hardened and hinge barrels and lock staples
are made from alloy steel for extra protection. The nose of the
skids are beveled at approximately 45 degrees for easier moving.
There are openings on the ends of the skids, as well as lift
rings on the top of the magazine, for the attachment of chains
or cables for moving. The doors are sheared from the side of
the magazine to provide a close fit and each door is provided
with drip protection from the weather. The first inner layer
of hardwood is bolted securely in place with successive layers
attached by air staples. All Type 2 Portables have stand-off
strips on the inside layer of hardwood at the screened ventilators,
thus preventing the packing of the explosives from hindering
ventilation.
